A friend who was visiting me way back then gave me fresh macadamia seeds and I managed to grow three seedlings out of ten. My trees are doing okay so far. I wonder if I should prune them though since they are all almost as tall as the telephone pole here. I wonder when they will fruit Jrae. I guess I'll see if they like the climate here in a couple years, I was told that they start fruiting regularly in 6 years and my trees are about 4 years old. The variety I have is Cates which I was told drops all of the mature fruits on the ground. That's though because it means I won't have any problems harvesting, I'll just pick em off the ground The market for macadamia nuts is pretty iffy here, so I gave up trying to have a macadamia plantation. I'll just stick to mangoes and dwarf coconuts.

There seems to have been a few badger casualties around here We have seen a few dead by the side of the road I have never seen a badger, except on television.

considering the large population of them around here, I've only seen one in the five years I've lived here

I've only seen them on television as well; not surprising as they are nocturnal

I've only ever seen dead badgers too by the side of the road but we even seem to see fewer of those nowadays.

There are a lot around here, what with the woods being so close, sadly there are always a lot of dead ones on the roads too

Do you remember that we treated our lawns with Nematodes (against chafer grubs) last autumn? Well, it appears to have done the trick. Usually by this time, the badgers have been in and ploughed up the lawns, and eaten my crocus corms. Then we had a plague of rooks after the grubs - this year - no holes! ;D It's wonderful! ;D ;D
