I hear that an 'official' drought is declared today, funny how they always seem to announce it when it's raining ;D It is serious though and not just here. All over Europe it is a big problem. The French are worried that the rivers won't have enough water to cool the Nuclear power stations!!! Another reason to follow the Germans. I hope that the hike in our energy prices will cover the cost of 'alternative' energy here.

Just heard it on the radio news, it's for the east of England so Cherry will be affected - not that it'll be any surprise because she's been saying this for weeks now

We are in the area Steve. It has been announced more exactly and it extends in Norfolk from The Wash to Thetford. The met office don't recognize it as a drought although they say we have had less than the Sahara, but the Environment Agency are saying this for water extraction and water bans. We have been told there will be no water restrictions for houses.

I think the 'authorities' are worried that they don't do a 'Minister for drought' thing, I remember how embarrassing that was though I can't remember when it was. They're probably quietly praying for rain. I've just come in for a warm as I've been watering due to the extremely dry soil. Please can we have some 'warm n' wet' for a change. Just spoken to the milkman and told me that the local Maize is well behind and withering. The situation in Europe is worrying and no doubt will push up all food prices. Growing our own certainly helps.

Well, after weeks with no rain apart from a little drizzle, we had 7mm yesterday, and Sunday is forecast to be a very wet day indeed. It's a mix of sun and cloud here today. I think we'll get some rain.
I do feel for Cherry and other people affected in the official drought area. Our local farmers are worried about the reduction of crops, so it must be a lot worse over in the east.

You have to feel for them don't you, it's very bad. I remember Cherry saying this last year too so it's clearly a dry spot It would be so much fairer if the countries rain was evenly distributed
