Lovely Peony. I have never been to Kew Palace, although I have been to Kew Gardens. Did they give you the history of the Palace? Very interesting. Look at the ginger. It does not look real.

It's an amazing plant - like wicker-work! We went into the Palace shortly after it re-opened. There weren't any costumed people, though - it was 'sound and vision'. The garden at the back needed weeding, too! ;D I nearly started on it - but OH wouldn't let me. lol. Was it better cared for when you saw it?

Very elegant building. I didn't realise the bricks were painted. The box and lavender looks perfect in front like that too.
Next time I'm in London I think I might try and visit.

I'm sure Peony can tell us - but I seem to remember that they did some research on the gardens to get them authentic. Is that right, Peony?

Yes Cherry it was interesting, the 'palace' (which is really just a large house), was built in 1631 for a non-royal family, it wasn't until the late 1700's that it was used by 'royals'. The house still has quite a few original features.

You must have 'second sight' Geranium, there were lots of wicker-work sculptures dotted around the gardens representing fruits, seeds etc. I think this one represented a paw-paw! ;D
