There were some other interesting stands with wildlife features, live bees & advice about wildlife gardening in the main hall as well so it's not all gadgets & 'nick-nacks'. There was also a stand with a lady who made lovely paper sculptures & flowers, here's a couple of pieces of her work made from old books, I don't like the idea of cutting up books but she has brought them to life again.

What an amazing talent! I suppose if a book has reached the end of its readable life, it might as well become a beautiful art work.

Great photos Sue. I was going, but it is off for this year now and I wish I was going. Sorry you've missed out Cherry but if your back has been bad it might have been hard work for you as it's a massive show, to be honest I ended up tired, hot & with a headache after it all & now I seem to have had bad hayfever for the last couple of days too since I inhaled all the scents from the flowers there!

I think I'll pass on your offer though Floydie, one big spider in my hand was enough! ;D

Sue, I can't afford it. It is that simple. Also I booked to see Calendar Girls which was quite expensive. It was a lot all at once. I must say, I do get tired but that is because I won't miss any of a show that I go to, but I do get 'gardened out' and have to go home. You reminded me that I took my son to an arboretum and made him sniff the wonderful trees and shrubs and he came down with one of the worst cases of hay fever I have seen. I felt quite bad and it was quite distressing to see him in that state. I feel for you.

I watched Alan, then turned to BBC 2 and watched half of GW. I enjoyed them both, except Alan putting up a fence. Why hadn't the garden owners done that? OH was a but taken aback, too!

Apparently not Merlin ! I was interested in their history so just googled for somemore information and look at this, it's really interesting ...... History The dahlia flower originated in Mexico. It is native to Mexico and Costa Rica. The dahlia flower was discovered by Spanish conquistadors in Mexico in the early 16th century who then took the unusual flower back with them to Spain. The flower was named by Spaniard Abbe Cavanilles in honor of botanist Anders Dahl from Sweden. Once introduced to Europe, the dahlia flower grew rapidly to be the most popular garden flower in the world. www.ehow.com/about_6628374_dahlia-plant-information.html
