Lovely, Wf. Is it far from you?
I'd love to grow some orchids in my garden - seeing them in your photos reminded me - I saw some in an open garden a couple of weeks ago - deep purple ones. ;D

It is not far, 5 or 6 miles.
Last year we had 5 wild orchids in the orchard, I'm hoping they will appear again this year.

What a fabulous place Sue, If we end up on hols in your area we will visit there. I would love wild orchids in my garden, do you reckon they would survive up here?

I normally have a season ticket to Plant World so you'd have to pop in and pick it up, if that didn't work I can come up with a list of reasons why you'd have to pop in if you get down this far ;D Most of the wild orchids wont grow that far north, the Heath Spotted-orchid and the Broad-leaved Marsh-orchid seems like it would, Steve N would be the one to ask.

It looks lovely W.F., is that the Plant World company which sells all the unusual seeds? The views do look fantastic. We do have some wild orchids around here down the road at the claypits, I think they're marsh orchids but we're not quite as far 'oop north' as Rosie is!

I've just checked on the ones I'm after - they're Dactylorhiza, and they appear to be hardy! My RHS book says they grow in partial shade. Anyone know them or grow them?

The owner collected seeds from all around the world and grew this garden. It is devided up into continents so you walk around the world.

When I stayed in bovey Tracey a while back I never knew about this place or I would have visited. Mind you I wasn't in my own place and didn't have an allotment so it would have been a window shopping trip only. Did manage to get round to Edwin Tuckers at Ashburton though. Not quite the same thing.
