Today I visited 16 gardens locally in the NGS. As you can imagine it was pleasnat and interesting, like the tea n' cakes. I spotted some plants that even the owners couldn't id so if I may I'll test your knolewedge. Sorry about the spelling but I've just been endulging in P's home-made wine! OK it's a Lily but it is very tall and has very broad leaves. The most georgious Geranium, like the 'Small blue Butterfly' Some sort of Conifer Another geranium

Me too Lillieb, maybe Geranium will know. I wouldn't mind going back in the winter for a root of it as seeds don't always come out the way you want, I wonder if she would mind Thank Girls for the ID on the two, just two to go ;D I'll get Googling later Would you believe I only bought one plant £1 !!! It was a a Adenophlora bullyana.

Do they grow in sun and shade Rosie? The ones I saw were in deep shade.

Just Googled they take 5-7 yrs to flower ! And the Erodium doesn't look hardy. Oh well no wonder I've not seen them before.

Hi Merlin - that was a lot of gardens! I agree about 'Blue Cloud', and the other one could be G. versicolor. I don't think it's an Erodium - but I can't see the leaves to be sure.

And didn't I know it! I was kna****ed, funny I can walk six miles but roaming around gardens...... still it was worth it. Because the village was on a hill, the gardens were all sloping, but the thing I noticed most was that so many plants were growing in shade. This rose seemed fine in the enormous apple tree. Proving that though 'they' say roses need full sun, they will grow/flower in shade. My Rose supplier says they will and showed me proof. This is why I intend to find a 'bush' to plant outside my east facing front door. Geranium, if it's 'Blue cloud' then I will look out for it as it's a must have, Thanks Lou I'll have a go at growing a Cardiocrinum, should be fun. I'll look out for that little Erodium too.
