Hello All,
Does anyone know of some roses which will bloom through out winter? and if so are they likely to survive in a pot if wrapped up or do they need the warmth of the ground?
Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum. You are member 100..congratulations ;D ; I have a standard rose in a plastic pot and it has come through several harsh winters, much to my surprise but not in flower. I just put it in a very sheltered part of the garden I don't know of any rose which will particularly flower in the winter unless the weather is very, very mild, but they do need a rest from flowering, so would not recommend it

Welcome to the forum LJBarton. Most roses bloom in June, and of course there are early and late ones, but none that bloom in the winter as far as I know. They are not evergreen either, so I can't even imagine an exception to this rule. As you like roses, do have a look at some of the lovely photographs on the rose thread and another rose thread which sometimes looks like a debate.
Congratulations on winning the T&M voucher.

Thank you Cherry and I will do. I'll just have to start getting them all ready in that case for next year. I fell very much in love with Wisleys new rose garden - def worth a viewing if you like roses!

Hallo and welcome from me as well - congratulations on your prize! It would be lovely to have winter-flowering roses ; such a shame they don't, isn't it, but there are lots of other plants to enjoy in the winter, after all.

Hello and welcome from me too. Congratulations on been the 100th member. The £25 voucher is definitely worth a lot more than one of the suggestions for the prize for the 100th member.

Not yet no, i'm hoping to build up a collection though. My grandfather had a gorgeous rose garden. All very old english and I can remember some flowering then in the winter although as I was very young they might just have been late autumn ones! Am hoping to get a good selection for next year

Not sure I know of many roses that will flower during our winter. The flower carpet series will certainly flower well into a mild November (at least the white one does) and may even stretch to Christmas if you are lucky. I've seen the odd flower on un-pruned more "typical" roses such as hybrid tea's and floribunda's occasionally very late into cold weather but wouldn't know if there are that many to be honest? I'm intrigued though
