I thought Montys hedges looked great. I love hedges, aswell as trees, and i really share his enthusiasm for them and thought he kept them so well, i'm covetting that platform for cutting the Hornbeams - it would be perfect for my long Escallonia hedge There is another gardening forum, that several of us know, and someone on there was saying how they're fed up with seeing Montys garden week after week - and how they don't want to keep hearing or seeing his hedges or compost piles ...... I personally like to see how a garden progresses throughout the year and i liked this format when Geoff Hamilton did it, and Alan T did it !

I do like the programme better now, but I think Friday could have done with a bit of variation, not just the hedges

Boring!! Not so much the hedges, although I wish we could see a bigger variation in tasks in the garden.Surely he has some flowers, and we know he has produce, but the garden visits. They were excellent garden visits, don't get me wrong, but surely GW is supposed to be a topical, practical show. Garden visits could have their own programmes.

I've stopped watching Gardener's world. I think Monty Don is like a block of dry wood and I just can't watch him any more.

Monty has a thing for cutting box and hedges, last week just took the biscuit.... I think even the most stupid of stupid people can gather enough brain cells to figure out how to cut a hedge... Sorry just my opinion.

I'm not so sure they can, Floydie. There are some gardens near here that are maintained by a private company and they always cut them all wrong. Not once, in 5 years, have they tapered them down correctly, they ALWAYS do the opposite ..... it makes me feel like going and doing it the correct way ..... what kind of gardeners are these people ? ? ? 'Odd job' gardeners, that's what

I think the reason the programme concentrated on hedge cutting was because this is hedge cutting season. I've made a start on some of mine this weekend. Monty has plenty of flowers in his garden - the poppies he was showing us a couple of weeks ago were beautiful and he was transplanting salvias which he had grown from seed. I very much enjoy seeing him in his own garden, he looks very happy and contented just like a gardener should

Monty was a bit late with his dahlias. Maybe he should have joined the forum, i am sure the the lady from Devon who won a trophy for her dahlia exhibit, would have given him the appropriate advice. ;D

He's a mixed bag for me. I sort of like him but he can be a little annoying especially when at the American Embassy he announced "this is a new one to me". Come on Monty, how many flower shows have you been to? You must have seen a Phytolacca at some! Regarding his hedges.....a little OCD?
