I always have Euphorbias growing as weeds in my garden but this year one has become enormous You can see how big it is from the size of my hand ! and my hands are not small. You can see the thickness of it's stems in comparison with the old broom handle I've put to hold it up I kept it because Beryl said it was pretty - lol, but it's choking everything around it I hope the seeds don't spread, becuse next year I will be geting rid of them !

Wow Hywel, that is a big Euphorbia, it must be very happy where it is I would dead head it once the flowers wither a bitty, that should stop the seed, i always wear gloves with euphorbia cos the sap is an irritant.

My goodness, Hywel - what have you been feeding it with? Get it out before your garden's overrun with them - I suffer with baby ones. They're a thorough nuisance.

Sun Spurge (Euphorbia helioscopa) from the looks of it. Certainly a particularly large specimen.

I get a lot of that in my garden, in fact I've pulled a load out today, mine have never got that large, I wonder if it cross pollinated with another Euphorbia

I get hundreds of small ones but this one is Gigantic. I can't understand why it's that size. Could it be a mutation maybe ? It feels like the day of the triffids lol ;D

That is a big one! I'd deadhead it as Rosie suggests as my euphorbia self seeds everywhere even when I do try & cut the flowers off in time. I gave my mum-in-law some from my garden years ago along with some other plants when she wanted some perennials & they spread through a chunk of her border. Luckily I think she's forgotten it was me who planted them as she keeps saying 'I don't know what those plants are but I keep pulling them up & they keep coming up again, I can't get rid of them!', I keep my mouth shut! ;D
