I garden because I like to watch things grow, to have colour in the garden, to try to block out all the horrible surroundings & have my own little oasis & to attract wildlife of all kinds, even the bl**dy slugs & snails who eat everything I plant (at least they provide food for the frogs/toads/hedgehog/birds)! ;D

I had my love of plants and gardening from my Gran - i.e. my Dad's mother. She's the only one in my family who enjoyed it. She used to buy plants for me, and when we took her to see the botanical gardens or something like that, she'd come back to the car with her pockets full of cuttings. I used to do the same, and we'd swap the ones we didn't have ;D My dad used to say if we got caught, he'd say he wasn't related to us ;D

I don't understand why people don't garden I would go mad if I couldn't grow my plants and vegetables. Gardening is good for all the senses - sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing. I get rid of any creative urges I have by using plants and flowers how I like them - if people don't like what I do that is their problem When I cook a meal with all lovely veggies we grow - well - it can't get better than that - can it? ;D I have an obsession with gardening and openly admit it ;D

I just love being outside, although this year has been a bit of a challenge, I'm looking forward to starting all over again next year.

I have always found that if i am in a bad mood or generally fed up even half an hour outside lifts your spirits, it's one of the great stress relievers ;D

I find just the opposite. Because my hands are busy but my brain isn't, all my worries and woes go round and round in my head

Yes, so can I. I'm not normally just a 'fair weather' gardener, either, but it was just sooo cold and miserable out there today I couldn't face it.
