That's right Geranium. Singapore is renowned for orchids. My daughter grows orchids outside and huge gingers, everything tropical and she is 19 deg latitude. Singapore is 1 degree north, so it is almost on the equator. I've holidayed in that part of the world a few times and the orchids are everywhere Given freely to hotel residents each day and as you walk around the towns/cities they're everywhere else as decoration and gifts. It was beautiful to experience. It's my favourite part of the world.

I was based there for three years back in the '60s. It really is /was a fantastic place. had fresh pomegranates growing in the back yard. Buy pineapples at the side of the road for 5 cents or loads of bananas for next to nothing. Of course I wasn't into gardening at that time but I did know a fair bit. The one fruit I couldn't stand was Durian. yuk, the locals liked it but it stunk to high heaven.

Durian! Never experienced it. Supposed to taste delicious, pity about the smell though. A bit like a latrine by all accounts!
