Are the tubers called slips? I was given some tubers a couple of days ago, it is too late to plant them so we were just going to eat them. Can I save them for next year?

It is the cuttings that are called slips Wf. You could keep the plant frost free ready for next year....this would give you a good start ;D

The apple James Grieve arrived yesterday so we went to the lottie and got it planted....along with a thornless blackberry someone gave me a few years ago, which I kept in a pot....It will be pleased to spread its roots out. The overwintering onions have rooted and shooting, so took the netting off. Pulled a swede and a leek for some soup. The polytunnel is empty and tidied up; just the canes in the shed to sort out.....then thats it till next year...apart from planting other fruit trees as and when they arrive ;D
