Does anyone here grow Myrtle? I quite fancy one but don't know much about it so any advice would be great. I was going to order one from Jekka McVicar but the postage is £8.75 for one small plant

I was going to order one from Jekka McVicar but the postage is £8.75 for one small plant Rosie -a word of warning. My variegated Myrtle almost died last winter. All the top growth except two small branches died back. It's started to sprout from the base again, but you're so far north - I wonder how hardy it would be in your area?

Well, Rosie, I'm glad you already knew that they're not really hardy. I didn't want you to pay out and then lose it.

Have to say I've never heard of it but according to this link www.plantoftheweek.org/week125.shtml it's well worth a go. I wish you luck Rosie and would like one too. The thing that bothers me is that I'm a bit to handy with the watering can. Hopefully someone will send you a semi-hardwood cutting.
