I think Crocus are even more expensive than Sarah Raven @willow, I subscribe to G.World mag. & they often have 10 or 20% off Crocus & it still seems expensive to me although I believe the plants are good quality. I got a pack of Thalia daff. bulbs & a pack of 50 mixed onion sets (red, gold, white) from Wilko's yesterday for £2 each, lots of bargain bulbs on offer there but I'm trying to restrain myself for now!

Oh I'm a great fan of Wilko for bulbs too SueA I nearly always buy my main selection of tulips from them, in particular, and their 25 bag of mixed Hyacinths for £5 - they're always great. I have learnt to order early - the good bulbs are often out of stock later on because they really are cheap. I also ordered some Iris Injad Sherwood this year, so hopefully I won't be jealous of everyone elses' Iris in the spring this year!

I quite often end up doing that sweetpea! We called in to JTF for some bird food & I ended up buying a pack of 10 'Menton' tulip bulbs for £2.38 (£1.99+vat), I'll probably plant them up in a pot which I'll just sink into the ground somewhere where I spot a space in spring.

I received a pack of 60 mixed mini daffs. in the post 'free' from G.World magazine which I'll probably use in hanging baskets & then went to Lidl where I ended up buying 2 packs of narcissus poeticus & 1 each of tazetta 'Avalanche' & narcissus 'Lemon Strike' which were on offer at £3 for 2 packs & a pack of crocus tomassinianus for £1.29 - couldn't resist!

We went to a plant sale too at Abbeywood Gardens & I got a schizostylis & a sedum, we walked around the gardens there & they had some fantastic autumn beds full of sedums, rudbeckias, echinaceas, cimifugas & grasses & it made me want to get some grasses - O.H. said 'haven't you got enough plants now?!' - er no, never!

We went to Abbotswood last year and were very unimpressed with it. Not our sort of garden at all. If you like that sort of Prairie style planting then have a look at Trenthamt Gardens. Those were done by the guru of that style, Piet Oudendorfe (spelling?).
