Beautiful Orchid and the Plumeria is always lovely to see. My favourite though is definitely that gorgeous Jacaranda tree. It's my favourite tree when it's covered in its fabulous purple flowers. I'm thinking these shots were probably taken Downunder.

:)Lovely to see so much colour in December Grindle, we're lucky to have year-round colour. There's always a flower somewhere or other no matter what time of year it is.

My next one was going to be the Poinciana Bernie, but I will put this other common tree on instead and you can tell me what it is as I have forgotten. I took off the dead flower next to it. It took a second and I had a hand full of green biting ants which went up as far as my wrist in that time. Gingers are amazingly varied as there are so many varieties. Some are native to Australia, but this one is Asian.

Cherry, that is a Bauhinia tree, Bauhinia variegata. Love the torch gingers too. Those green ants have a nasty bite, don't they?

You two are cheating! ;D What gorgeous flowers & trees, I don't think we have anything to compete with those over here whatever the time of year.

It's amazing how all these plants are viewed as rather common, and taken for granted here. Most people don't see these as all that special, Sue. Delonix regia or Poinciana is regarded as an environmental weed here, and we're encouraged to remove them! Of course some of them are just so enormous that removing them would be a mammoth job.

Bernie this beautiful tree was in the Townsville Botanic, not far up the main path on the right hand side. I thought I would remember the name, but have forgotten it. The flowers are rather small.

That is great Steve. ;D Mine were overtaken with the bad weather. They got hot and then freezing. I will have another go in March.
