I have been planning my 'new' area as well as digging and clearing out dead leaves from the Pampas grass, and cutting back the brambles from the farm. We went up to a specialist tree nursery on Thursday and I got a Hydrangea pan. 'Early Sensation'. I had planned to buy a H.villosa, but I liked mine better. So: Three Queen Elizabeth roses at the back, on order, a Euonymus phellomanus in front of them, also on order, then three Jap. Anemones 'Queen Charlotte' around the Hydrangea, two Jap Anemone 'Pamina' in front of that, and Geranium 'Rozanne' trailing ove the wall. I hope it allooks like the image I have in my mind's eye!!!! Fingers crossed it will Geranium.

I managed to find some metal plant support hoops buried under loads of pots etc. in the greenhouse & put them around the verbena bonariensis, teasels etc. which were beginning to fall over the paths & lawn due to all the wind & rain, I can get down the garden now without getting soaked - well by the plants anyway but not the rain! The neighbours must think I'm bonkers as I trudge down the path in my waterproofs with a watering can for the greenhouse!

My neighbours definitely know I am bonkers!
My roses arrived yesterday, which is great because they had to be planted first- and I had an email to say that the Euonymus is coming today, so maybe there will be a dryich interlude so I can plant it...and everything else!!!
I planted my lovely purple Hydrangea in a new pot, and the Hypericum 'Magic' in a space in the corner bed. I had a go at tidying the back garden borders but I didn't make it look right...yet...

I managed to get out & plant the things I bought from Bluebell Cottage & High Legh yesterday, lifted some more Charlotte potatoes & watered everything in the greenhouse.

Oh, poor you, @willow. We were lucky and had a lovely warm sunny day, so I got on with planting, as my Euonymus arrived in the mormng. I looked inside the box and went 'WOW!' because it has a wonderful crop of bright pink berries. : it really is beautiful. I had to hunt in the kitchen for a long bladed knife to run round the pot, as it just would not shift. That worked, luckily. When I planted the Hydrangea, I hit a huge root...it was far too big for my secateurs, and I can't use loppers, so I fetched OH's axe and chopped at the root in two places, which worked. I planted the five Jap. ANemones with no trouble, then 'Rozanne' at the front. Oh dear, there are still large spaces do I may fill them with dwarf anemones. I saw some at the GC the other day.

I started to sort through the piles of empty plastic pots & trays in the greenhouse & threw some thin & tatty ones away as it was 'general rubbish' bin day, gave up when there was no more room in the bin, they don't collect that again for another 3 weeks so may have to get O.H. to take some to the tip.

Just picked 5 kilos of Greengages from the hedgerow outside. Lots more in there but try as I might I cannot get to them because of the nettles, brambles and briar roses. Wish our own tree produced as it should. Also picked about the same of ripe Victoria plums. Boss will be jam making again.

Put more bags of slate down in the front, still haven't got enough but hopefully I'll be able to get the rest at the end of the week. Started digging over the borders and adding compost, planted out some of the plants, with a bit of luck I will finish the front today, then I can concentrate on the back garden
