Rained most of yesterday and we had viewers so I spent my free time standing my Auricula seedlings in soaking trays of vine weevil killer.

I managed to tidy up the patio of fallen leaves, take out all the tender plants, increase the size of the little raised bed and plant the remaining Heucheras I had, also put the rest of the tete a tete bulbs in the pots along with some spare violas

Nice weather so I completed clearing up the fallen tree. Ruined part of my chain saw as Hawthorn is very hard wood. Have to buy the piece again, but need something else to get it post free. Auriculas still sat in the soaking tray as we had friends over after lunch so nothing done.

Today we spent most of the day taking soil off the dahlia tubers we had put in the cold greenhouse. These were the ones we had in black florists buckets - about 40 or so. Che also dug up the tubers from the 4 narrow borders - about another 60 or so and we have nearly cleaned all of these up, probably an hour to finish tomorrow. then it will be the main plot - cutting off the tops lifting and putting to dry in the greenhouse before we go back to work/school next week. The best bit of the last few days is Che has decided his big trampoline can go as he no longer uses it and he wants to grow veg again so we have done a large order from Mr Fothergills for seed and we are going to have a look at Medwyns too for some exhibtion veggies - just to have a dabble mind

Lou78W do you put the shading on the inside or outside and how do you hang it please?[/quote] Cat get some 'Varishade' which you brush on and it goes opaque when sunny and clear when cloudy. Another but more messy is brush or spray on a solution of lime and water when hot/sunny but of course you then need to wash it off when not required.. I sometimes hang old curtain net inside. Sorry to have hijacked your query.

O.H. baled out the remaining water from the hole I'd dug for the new birch tree & had a look at the pipe I'd found in there. He chipped the corrosion off it & thinks it's just a steel bar & probably not a pipe but couldn't shift it so I took a chance & planted the tree just behind it with some compost & bonemeal added.

Did nothing yesterday. The weather was so nice we went off to Parkgate on the Wirral for a bag of chips and proper ice cream.
