Just thought I would create this for anyone that cuts flowers from their garden or allotment for the house. I'll start this with the flowers of my newly acquired Clematis 'Blue Angel' today. Some stems in flower were bent back on themselves so I cut them back to a pair of buds. Normal planting procedure anyway and rather than just throwing them in the bin I put them in this pretty old china cup and placed it on our plant area counter at work. A former work colleague and friend called Olga who retired last year always used to have a small glass vase with sweet peas from her allotment placed here so I thought it would be nice to start that tradition again, if not with sweet peas then with something at least! Clematis make good if surprising and not often used cut flowers anyway... Here is Blue Angel

Very pretty I like the elegant curly stems too! I have a small yellow watering-can in the garden that I put any random flowers in I've trimmed back/accidentally chopped I don't have the space to grow enough for cut flowers now, sadly. Just the odd posy. Here's another 'odd' cut flower - Marigold 'Tall Scotch Pride.' This is an old photo I took a couple of years ago and my camera wasn't so good back then. But still very bright. I used to looove this dramatic old marigold, but I haven't seen it in the catalogues much recently so I've run out of seeds the last two years! And another more conventional cut flowers photo. I like my bright colours and I liked this contrast - Cornflowers and Cosmos Polidor. Used to grow lots of cosmos for cutting when I had room, great flowers. (The site I'm using to host my photos is having difficulties so if you can't see it, it should be back later.)

Pretty clems Fractal , a friend of mine had that china on her wedding list about 20 years ago! Lovely marigolds too Bess , a lot of the older 'cut flower' type marigolds seem to have disappeared now unfortunately. Just seen your second pic. too, great colour combination!

Well Devid, you will have to do it and post your results here if you cut them, or elsewhere on this site if you leave in your garden to flower

Just a couple of shots of my new vase! Might as well show case it with some flowers from the garden. It was only £2.99 before my staff discount of 30% Two types of Persicaria, Euphorbia wallichiana, and two bits of Pelargonium zonale flowers from a left over plant from a garden job. I stuck it in a pot by the back door and it has produced lots of flowers. Lots of pink here which I must admit is not my favourite colour but there is a distinct lack of any other colour in my garden at the minute so I may have to address this!!!

Ooh that's really pretty and fresh looking. I have no problem with lots of pink myself! And all those different shapes and textures of pink really compliment each other. The Spiraea is really nice, I have fond memories of a big fluffy bush on the farm I grew up on.

Nice display Fractal I like pink too Bess, just as well as most of the things which manage to survive here turn out to be pink!
