Morning williamhawk i grow mostly summer crops here but, yes, save a lot of money in doing so. Lettuce, beans, toms, carrots, peas, etc etc plus soft and top fruit. similar climate too to yours, viz., in west cornwall where the growing season is long and the weather is mild the earliest seed sowing will be in a week or two of onion seed.

I grow some in tubs. I've had good results but I don't grow enough to stop buying them. They taste much better though

This garden has fed us for the last 22 years. We grow almost any veg you care to name of the 'normal' ones. Tender exotics do not really grow here, we are too cold. But from Broad beans to zucchiniis we get enough to feed us and save on food bills. (Had to begin with 'B' as we do not grow either Artichokes or Asparagus, don't like either of them.).
