We have about 20 bush roses all except 2 which are climbers over an arch
At the moment its the middle of winter a few of the Roses are just showing signs of new growth. The concern is some of the roses never lost their leaves.
Question Winter pruning what do we do to these "leafy" plants.
On average I do a heavy pruning about now.
Thanking you in advance.

It's difficult to judge when to prune nowadays isn't it keith, a lot depends on the weather, I've had roses still with the odd bloom on in November/December which is probably equivalent to around June over there & some retaining leaves in mild winters. I usually wait until around the end of February/through March - probably around August/September where you are, to do any proper pruning but have cut down any very long stems earlier if it's very windy & they are rocking/blowing around.

Its not only the Roses that are crazy a few Dahlias started sending up new stems well after they had completely died down.

It must be the same everywhere keith , the plants & wildlife are as confused as us with the climate nowadays.
