We badly need rain too. I have put weedkiller on the drive which could be longer than most. I have not done the car park for the farm and hangar, and I don't think that should come under my remit so husband can do it. I spent a lot of time watering today too. Now I am watching rabbits hitting each other in the air like hares. We have both, but I am sure these are rabbits.

Today my job was to dig out this granite trough By lunchtime I had got this far The OH suggested an easier way to get it out. I wasn't convinced it would work but he swore it would, it didn't and I am now back at stage one. I spent the afternoon making a voodoo doll of the OH I could stick pins in

What an awful task you have Sue I don't envy you I've been busy today seeing to mother 2 little patches she has at least it looks a bit better now. I've also dug over my veg patch were my runner beans will go and been tiding up the edges. I also sat in the sun this afternoon reading and watching the birds going in and out nest box.

I potted on the rest of the Penstemon babies, and the last ones in the water had rooted, so I planted them in small pots, and remembered to label them. ;D I pricked out my Silene 'Jack Flash' - I think there are 10 of them. Then I planted the other half of the sweetpea plants round the second obelisk. I spent the rest of the day weeding, cutting back the dead parts of my Erigerons and Convulvulus cneorum - but I'm beginning to wonder if I should take that out and plant a new one. Oh, and more tidying - and yet another bonfire.

Hard work in the garden is rewarding but that's what I call a just reward, sounds lovely.

You're a brave girl 'G' after the last two winters, so sad about the frogs. I believe there's a piece on frogs on Countryfile tonight.

Sorry, Les - I spotted a packet of seeds and thought I'd give them a go for the first time. I'm hoping for some bright colour at the front of my 'hot border. Silenes are normally hardy, so I think they should be OK.

Sue that granite trough is going to be a beautiful asset when you finally get it out. Poor you. It looks terribly heavy and well set in.

I have been planting new lilies and ranunculus and potting up some of last year's cuttings in the greenhouse. There is a really nasty wind here, so it was mainly greenhouse work.
