Just watched the programme, disappointed really, the programme is just like gardeners world, to short for so many presenters. Should have just left it to Alan.

I enjoyed it, Tel. Lovely to have our Alan back! I'd have liked to see some more plants - that always inspires me.

I'll wait until I have watched a few more. A bit split on it really with the overall featured garden looking excellent. Loved the jetty and the bridge and that huge standard Eriobotryia. The planting was very dense and looked frequent hosepipe lush (and very manicured) and I liked it.
Not sure half an hour (less with adverts) allowed the deviations to ice cream making and bee keeping though?

i watched alans prog and thought it was a bit too 'groundforce'y for me, that lady OBVIOUSLY was not an amateur gardener as she claimed, and as for saying she had a 'tiny' garden? please, tiny is 8ft x 14ft! i'd like to see her face if she was faced with that! honestly, of all the peoples gardens they could have filmed, they had to pick someone who they claimed was 'average' when obviously money is no object to them! Rant over ;D i watched monty too, and loved his piece about Giverny, as i have been there, as used to live in northern france, and have loads of photos, and i bought a big print of the waterlilies in the gift shop. its as gorgeous as it looks

I've just watched ATs programme and quite liked it.
The garden that was featured i thought was lovely and actually thought that it was fairly easy to create, and if you looked at the 'before' clip it showed that it was already planted up to a degree so some of it had just been added to.
I like the way that it shows how a small garden can be made to look large by putting a lot in it because most of the time us gardeners of small gardens are scared to put a lot in there for fear of making it look even smaller.
Unlike Bluebellbot i think these gardens can be created quite inexpensively, by using smaller plants, swapping plants, DIY and time - that one being key .... the garden featured here had taken 20 years to create. And i would call the owner an amateur gardener, there's no way she was a professional. She wasn't a novice gardener but yes, definately an amateur.
I'd love that garden for my own !

Loved the garden and AT but I thought the ice cream bit and the wildlife bit were a waste of time, we all know it's hard to keep cats away from the birds, they could have done without them and put more about the planting in.

I go along with that. Watched both AT & GW Was very interested in the bit where AT was redoing the edges of the pond. Pity the lady of the house was pleased with it as she threatened to chuck him in the pond That would have made a bit of watchable TV ;D

I recorded Alan's programme & just watched it & really enjoyed it, a nice bit of 'easy watching', I know some people don't like the little 'thrown in ' bits about bees/wildlife etc. but it was interesting to see how the cats weren't put off at all by the lion's poo or the sonic deterrent showing that maybe these are a waste of money. Did anyone else notice by the way that the lady whose garden they used for the bird/cat feature was Caroline Broome, one of the regular writers for Garden News 'Your Gardens'? I recognised her new round rill water feature as soon as it started!
