Actually got to the tip today and then picked a few blackberies getting more thorns stuck in hands again. Lots of them were ruined by the atrocious weather of the last couple of days. Ground far too wet to do much but look and plan.

Believe it or not we do have a few gag merchants on here. We can be serious too....occasionally. It was steve who started it way back in the mists of time when the forum was called something else. He was first then me and it all went downhill from there The first 'Joke' was steves and it was something about which veg can see you? potatos cos they have eyes. After a while it got more adult stuff and eventually the site got moderators (who we all love and cherish) However it is still in my humble opinion the best garden orientated forum around.

Liquid sunshine most of the day but eased up now. Still managed to get soaked when down to feed the fish

Managed to cut the grass today and even then it was still a bit wet. scared a little frog but he hopped it. Loads of fallen apples picked and some chucked on the lawn for the birds and the rest of the really yucky ones will go to tip tomorrow along with a load of other stuff. My chillies are still green but having a few in a curry tonight plus one of the apples. Monty Don had some lovely red chillies on GW last night 'Apache' I think they were. At least my gardeners delight tomatoes didn't disappoint and we got too many as usual.

Had to take daughter to hospital 30 miles away for a day surgery op and as it was 8am appt. I had to leave early and of course didn't get home until late and naturally nobody thought to water the tomatoes etc in g'house which meant that by the time I got round to it today they were well and truly wilting. Anyway I reckon all will be ok.

There are named rootstocks in America that have resistance to certain nematodes in those areas but usually it is just a peach seedling which is used as rootstock which is what this tree is anyway, so wouldn't rooted cuttings be the same as the tree as it is not grafted? thinking about this makes my brain hurt I'm saying nowt

Great news Louise. My brain has been away from normal British style gardening for a long time now as I set up a garden in the tropics, so a quiz would be hard work now. Great to have you back. If you recall Cherry the answer was often 'A Parsnip'
