I remember collecting these seeds and then not knowing where to put them so I chucked them in a pot. I thought they were Scabious but they don't look like my others, could they be Echinacea? My other guess would be Rudbeckia but the stems are too dark I think. I'd like to put them in the garden but without knowing what they are I don't know where to put them.

Doesn't look like Rudbeckia to me are the leaves hairy?? My penstemon has red on the leaf stems so it may well be .

They are probably Echinacea, but they are a very dar variety. Mine don't look so red which defies the name. (Of course, they are probably beetroot.)

You could be right Cherry, it won't be the first time I've nurtured weeds.
I'll stick them in my big bed and see what happens.

Young leaves seem to emerge as a pair so could be a Penstemmon as said above though they do have the look of young Knautia macedonica seedlings too?

Thanks Grindle, I did two pages and went cross eyed I'll try again when I'm more in the mood. The seeds were collected from my garden, they are not Penstemmon because I've never collected them. They might not have germinated from the seeds I put in the pot. I had some seeds in my hand, found a pot with a dead something in it, dumped the seeds in and gave it a stir. I'll put the plants in the garden somewhere and let you know when something identifiable happens.
