Did anyone see Chris Beardshaw on BBC4 a riveting prog all about apples, I recommend it. Of course I saw it. He must have seen my farmwalk first. I showed you the same thing on M9 rootstock.

Will it be on iplayer? I missed it I should think so Esther, it was BBC four. My Dad had 21 Apple trees and I've never tasted any of them since. I believe there are Apple events where you can find old varieties, I'm sure I'd remember.

I have more than 20 apple trees too and used to belong to the East of England Apples and Orchards Project. I had to have some identified and one even went away to Brogdale for ID. They are all eating varieties. I left this when I did not go to a pruning demonstration locally. Most functions were in the orchard belt at Wisbech. Because I did not know anyone, so did not go, I was getting nothing out of it, and it was expensive.
