The bottom one is Malva Sylvestris (common mallow) Ron not geranium, so you did ok

It is the one grindle posted a link to that I was thinking of. I remember going somewhere up country and the verges were blue with them. I wonder why it is rare down here

I've never seen it 'in the wild', but I've got it in my garden! I'm saving the seeds if anyone's interested.

the wild one likes calcareous soil so we have lots on the wolds.

Yor're right about the verges WF, they are quite common here and like so many so-called 'wildflowers' they are beautiful. In principal I'd like to have my garden to contain lots of wild flowers but they breed to much

No, Merlin - some do, but most don't. The G. pratense does, though. Floydie, would you like some seeds? Just pm your details and I'll send them to you.
