That is ready to pick, my mouth is watering, it is my favorite vegetable. Keep picking and it will keep flowering, think of it as dead-heading.
It takes no time to cook, the stalks need to remain relatively firm, similar to broccoli.

Ditto what WF says, the florets are unopened flowers, it's trying to do its job in flowering so keep picking and it will keep trying

It was fantastic! there's plant left, should last as for some reason each plant is not as advances as the rest. I'm definitely going to grow it next year. I'll make a bigger net cage though....it's bulging!

Do you know the variety and when you sowed them? Mine finished weeks ago, I love to prolong my season.
I've decided to dedicate the brassica beds to sprouts and purples with only a few cabbages. I have two varieties of sprouts to prolong the season, two of purples would be good.
Cabbages don't do well in my garden and there is far too much wildlife living in them.

We bought a pkt of Broccoli seeds from Unwins, this is called Broccoli All Season collection, these are all purple. The pkt contains 4 varieties, Rudolph sow March-June, harvest November-February. Red Arrow sow March-May harvest February-March. Redhead sow May-June harvest March-April Summer purple sow in doors January-March harvest June-October.

As promised WF mine are Johnson's 'Cooks garden' Summer purple. I don't mind being 'upstaged' Tel ;D A good idea, I'd get those myself but I've not enough room.
