This was taken today after 24 hours solid rain on it. Centre just gone over so left that view off It was quite nice though. and from behind It has very tight petals, grown on a wing bud. Not very long stem. Size close to 6".

My seedling, Wyn's Favourite has confused me. The second year the plant had at least 10 blooms on it, the bloom was about a inch short of the small ring, this year I stopped a few early and restricted them to 8 up, 7 up and 6 up and the blooms have turned out so far, smaller than last season.

Just harvested some seed from the bedding dahlias and while I was winnowing them i wondered what the commercial seedsmen do to harvest the seeds and get rid of the rest. I was ok as just a few seedheads but I suppose the big commercial seedsmen must harvest thousands.

A new dahlia seedling that I like, most likely a small semi cactus. Lovely colour and with a bit of work might be worth a dabble. Like all seedlings at my gaff they dont get looked after, so there may well be room for improvement.

I think so !! I ran out of room in my modest seedling bed, so the remaining 20 seedlings or so went into 2 ltr pots. This was allowed to grow 6 up and each bloom was about 5 1/2 inches. The picture on here was taken sunday morning, it now looks like a pink version of Goldcrests which will suit me.
Apart from being quite a pretty shade of pink it doesn't blow it's centers, this bloom was cut saturday night and is still looking good this afternoon.
Lets see what it does next season in the open ground. Still time for it to be lobbed in the bin if it is a one hit wonder.
Nothing ventured as they say.

Tel you will certainly have first dibs when and if I have spare stock. It needs to settle down first, year one seedlings are for the dreamers. I'm more of a realist but we live in hope. I will keep you posted.

Very nice tel. I like the colours you have in you seedlings the 2 collarettes you featured in blooms thread are really nice the garden friends and more fuchsia pink one. Any news from the trials ? Have a great weekend and if your showing good look Off to Kent show on Sunday for a look around my first one. Hopefully see some things I would like to try and possible without covers to good standard and joining the Kent dahlia society to increase my knowledge base overall. Cheers Raymond

I like the colour as well, is it a true representation of the colour cross between 'bright in your face red' and 'bright in your face hot magenta pink'?
