I will take a look at the 5 day forecast on Tuesday, if no frost forecast, I may take a gamble and plant out the collarette seedlings with the garden fleece on standby.

brought the dahlia seedlings from the old allotment, they are now over on the new half plot allotment awaiting planting out. There is about 150 to plant. Will bring garden Friends and another collarette up to plant over on there too, then they do not cross pollinate with the decorative types on the old allotments.

8th August.
As a rough guide, any bud showing at the end of the stem, about pea size now, will be in bloom after about 23 - 25 days. If you don't want it to flower in that time, just pinch the bud off and let one of the lower shoots grow until that produces a bud. If you don't want that one to flower then take it off and use a lower shoot, etc, etc.

Here are mine, They are growing in black buckets with holes drilled in from a supermarket. I'm in the middle of tying them all up, 4 canes to a pot, for in theory a little extra stability.
The back row with the canes Left to right: 2 Weston Spanish Dancer, 1 Downham Royal, 4 Eastwood Moonlights and all of the rest are Red Balloon. Dark stems on the Weston Spanish Dancers and a few of the Red Balloons.

3 of the seedlings have started flowering. Two are similar colours to the Zoe sport but open daisy eyed. One looks quite promising. It is nearly open, a striking pale yellow. Really good form, but a little small for a small I think. Couple more days should tell us.
