Hi that is Fantastic Dianthus and the beauty of growing seedlings is that yes they are a packet of pompon seeds, but everyone will be a brand new variety and who knows may be a prize winner, but something only you have in your garden to enjoy. No matter everyone will be like opening a Christmas present with only your eyes cast over the blooms for the very first time.

What is the potting on mix for my pompom seedlings.
Should I be waiting for the first pair of true leaves?

Finished potting up the last of the dahlia seedlings, Now to wait and see if we can get a show worthy bloom, or plenty of compost material.

Mine are all now in 3" pots and looking happy. None have flopped or died, so delighted with my new venture, so far.

Do you grub up everything with a less perfect crossing, before they get to set seed?

I don't do anything, I let the insects do the work for me. I just collect the seed pods in Sept/Oct. There is one job to do and that is squeeze the moisture out of the pods, every time I go to the allotment, so they do not rot off.

I've just done 2 little pots of Brenda T. 20 in each. Can I come out of the Naughty Corner now?
