Great idea, Moonlight
I use those cell trays of 6 x 4 to sow my peas, 4 to a cell, so I know I will be getting almost a hundred plants when they germinate.
Love your coloured markers too. I only see white/cream ones hereabouts.

Love your coloured markers too. I only see white/cream ones hereabouts. The internet is a wonderful thing - do an e bay search on coloured plastic labels. Ordered more 100 each of Pink and Yellow. 2 different companies both free postage - 2nd class Royal Mail.
The labels are colour coded, purple = ball dahlias, yellow = poms, pink = decs and green = semi / cactus etc. I've done the same thing with my plants that I have potted up.
There is a method to my madness 'onest.

You are certainly organised, with your dahlia cultivation, Moonlight
I wish I could be as organised with my craft supplies and my ironing!

Been very lucky with my seedlings so far: 6 poms, 16 large poms, 25 min/small semi/cactus, 10 medium semi/cactus, 3 min dec and 4 small dec. n.b. Sounds loads but they are still very young, still pricking out. So what ever turns up, will be interesting. Totally random but very interesting. Fingers crossed for us all.

Looking at the local BBC weather for the next 10 days for our area, no frost forecast. Now a lot of the dahlia seedlings need potting on, so I have decided to start planting these out, with fleece at the ready, if need be.

Sounds like a good plan Tel with you growing the seedlings quite close together they will be easily covered if need be. It will hopefully give you something to look at a bit earlier than your main show plants. I hope they all turn out to be winners. Approx. how many seedling have you this time?
Good luck and good fortune Tel

Good luck and good fortune Tel Ian Around 180 this year, mainly Collarettes they produce seed no problem. A few decs, about 12 cactus and 8 poms. If I did not show I would have to make my mind up on what classification I wanted to raise.

Nice one Tel, all those presents for your eyes only! Of course until they are good enough for general consumption. Just a few to keep you busy.
