Aw.....that's a shame...still. you have 29 left..... Yes Lou78W , considering what has happened to Raymond's cuttings, I am thinking that my first ever attempt to grow them, is going reasonably well. I still have the remaining half packet to grow next year, too.

Sorry to hear about your seedling dianthus . I still have plenty of cuttings and although upset to begin with I have to learn. I am a little worried though today the forecast said cloudy so did not put newspaper over the cuttings I might come back home to more fried dahlias. The sun today will do two things either help them root or finish them off. What will be will be.

It has been hot here, so only just watered my seedlings, as the sun had left them.
We are forecast hail and possible snow here, next week

Go to this website for Met office, and type in your location and save it in your favourite website list. If they don't know, then none of them will

I've just pricked out my 1st 6 seedlings and will have more tomorrow. All grown in the lounge with no extra heat. I am planning on sowing some more seeds this weekend.
I hope that those 6 grow. It feels so good not to be the only person without any seedlings.

I just found out this morning the man that sent me the collarette seeds his wife died suddenly this morning. Feel terrible such a lovely man.
If any of these seedlings amount to anything he will be offered them back.

More to come but I have to cut up some more little pots. 12 x 3" pots are £1 in the every little helps shop.... saves an accident with the knife, too. Nice enough to wash and use each year, as well.

dianthus This is what I've been using:
I've used 8 by 5 celled seed trays. I cut a tray full into the single cell pots. Once I've pricked out the seeds that have germinated I plant each 1 in one if these little cell pots and then place it in an uncut tray. This means that when I am ready to pot up the seedlings, I just lift the plant in it's little cell pot out of the seed tray and then I can get the seedling out without disturbing the other seedlings.
These are the same seed cell trays that I used last year. The cells have been cut into single cell mini pots and then put back into another tray. I cut these celled seed trays into single cells and then when I plant them into each small cell pot, it gets placed on a space in a whole uncut 5 by 8 seed tray.
The idea behind it is to make it easier to lift the plant out of the seed tray without disturbing the other seedlings around each but also it means that it saves space, rather than put them into the real flower pots when it is quite likely that they won't all make it.
