Dahlia Seedlings.

I was really sure it was the same colour as Barbarry Pinky, i was beginning to wonder if it really was a seedling, or some how a small piece of tuber with a eye had survived in the compost from the allotment.
I had a Barbarry Pinky in bloom in a 5in pot on the allotment, the bloom of pinky in the pot is smaller than it should be, but that would still give me a comparison in colour with the plant in the garden.
After placing them side by side i and Brenda agreed the seedling is slightly darker than pinky to the naked eye, but i do not think it is noticable in this pic.

The seedling is the bigger bloom on the left, just waiting now to see if it has a good centre.

I have my fingers crossed Lou, if the centre of the bloom is good, it should reach small dec size next year, then it would be worth trying it on the bench.

The petals on this one are not uniform, but the collar is ok.

I let them grow straight up, planted about a 12in apart. if i try any of them a second season, i plant them 24in apart and stop them.
