I love all creatures........especially cats Same here Blossom and have 2 cats of my own but i'm afraid i also like wildlife and wild birds especially. I have numerous feeders around the place and have always encouraged birds into my gardens but when there are neighbouring nuisance cats around that kill the entire neighbourhoods garden wildlife that's when things change. Wild bird/animal habitats are declining at a fast rate and we need to protect as much as we can and when there are cats killing for fun (because let's face it, most cats on our estates are fed sufficiently) it's not helping one bit, so i discourage all the cats from coming in. My own 2 are watchers not do-ers so i don't have the problem of them killing.

Ive seen the pest (mouse) running across next doors low wall again this afternoon . I don't know were it/they are coming from. The dogs just stand there wagging if they see them useless. My old boy used to be good at catching them (at the old house) perhaps its too much hard work for him now :/. I don't want to set traps or use poison in case anything else gets to it (IE the dogs). You could always try a humane trap Floydie, bait it with chocolate and the trap catches the beasties alive, release it quite a ways away from your house though.

Eeekkk i hate Rats (wild ones) Ive seen them running around on the waste land at night. I may set up a bottle trap some were but i don't want to attract lots into our garden, I don't mind them (everyone has got them near by after all) but if her next door sees any she will blame us even though there not really our fault/problem, there around the drains and the low wall next door (there's a small shrub growing on top of it they run in and out of). I can't help but wonder if they were in the old houses and have moved down here were its less open .

'Them next door to us' stopped making compost because they said it attracted rats - so if they found out that we have one, they'll want us to stop making it too. No way! (I don't believe it anyway.)

My cats are good at catching moles, but another crop has started up and I called the mole catcher. He trapped five today and will be back tomorrow to see if he can get the rest. There is a very large barn owl here, with a little one seen on the flat tin roof of the rusty shed, so the moles have been put around for the owl. The mole catcher said it would definitely take these. The owl is certainly a beauty and sits on the washing pole near the house.

Depends what they were putting in it . The only thing that mine attracts are ants & flys ergh there just as bad. Her next door told me off for feeding the birds so if she sees any it'll be the bird feeders or the rabbit hutch thats attracted them .

Yes, I agree. We never add any left-over protein or cooked food, only vegetable and fruit leaves/peelings etc from the kitchen.
Obviously I have no idea what they put on their 'heap' but it was just that - no container or bin of any sort.
