How did they get on with the fireworks, Floydie? Poor Henry goes frantic. The little ones were outside watching, tilting there heads at the noises, Molly was terrified (poor girl) the Piggy's had to come inside for the night, while the Rabbit was sat watching not phased at all by them .

I just wondered, because there are papillons living near here, and they look something similar. They are very pretty,- well they're all nice looking dogs really .... Hywel, little Blodyn looks sweeter each time i see her Louise, she is very friendly, and will lick you to death lol ;D

There is some history on the breeding of Chihuahuas, when they were introduced to Europe they were cross bred with other small breed dogs to make the gene pool more varied. One of those dogs was of course the Papillon, the Papillon was one of the more favored breeds to cross with. Thus developed the coat in the longer coated dogs to have the fringed ears and tail plume that they share with the Papillon.

Very interesting Floydie, I didn't know that, I like the mid/long haired ones, the short haired ones always look very delicate & as though they'd snap if you picked them up! I know they're feisty little things though, our old neighbours used to have a short hair & she was a sly madam always bullying their 2 other bigger dogs (jack russell & terrier!) ;D Your dogs all look very cute & full of character.

There is alot of info behind the breed, Ive researched to around the 1900's most of the info found goes back to around 1939-1940 ish. I like them all ;D id have some smooth coats at some point but thats way down the line when i can have more than 4 dogs . My 3 chis are very bouncy and hyper , smooth coats seam to have different temperaments to the longs. Oh and Lola bosses Molly around .

That doesn't surprise me Its interesting to hear about the different breeds I must admit to not being particularly a "dog" person.....I am more into cats....and our preferred breeds are the "working dogs" rather than the fancy ones...not the dog's fault....its usually the owners who think that everyone should drool over their pets that are the problem. However.......your babies are cuties!! ;D

I like many dog breeds but fell for the chis ;D. The next big dog we have if i get my way will be an Afghan or a Rough Collie . Cat wise Ive always liked Siamese but i wouldn't have a cat with Molly!
