A few pictures for you all to see from this years show. Some nice exhibits on view. I'll show you first the vase that won the best in show...white frills. by Andy Hubbuck of Chesterfield, who won quite a lot of the main prizes. Maybe sweetpea knows him? and this is my entry that came first in my section, also white frills Personally, i can't see any difference I got 3 firsts and a second, white frills as above, then Zillah Harrod and Sir Jimmy Shand.....the true colour is shown by the bottom petals, it's the light that makes the rest look pinker There were some nice entries in my section, luckily the prizes were shared around a bit, so it ended up that i won a cup for the most firsts, and a 2nd cup for the most points because everyone else was taking points off each other ;D So it's time to buy some brasso again, or whatever else it is the wife uses

Well done scrumpy, you are setting the standards for us to follow now on the show bench this season. Great pics of your sweetpeas, I hope you have a successful show at Shrewsbury in what ever classes you enter and maybe pick up some more silverware for the wife to polish. ;D

Hey, what is all this about the wife doing the polishing. She may have better things to do, like read a book or watch television or even speak to us on the forum.

It's nice to win a few prizes now and again, but i was quite happy to find enough blooms just to get my entries in. Last year i had just one vase. And i had my luck with the weather and cutting. If the show was today i wouldn't have an entry. That's how close it can be.

Yes, a lot of entries, especially in the two and three vases sections. Mine were the first ones in, i arrived at 6.30, and finished arranging them by 7.15. So all the others could see how mine looked and then shuffle their entries around a bit, like i do with the dahlias. So if someone had a vase of white and lavender that weren't as good as mine, they'd put it in say a two vase class, so a 2nd in one class could be a first in another.
