I had a couple of small tortoise shells caught in the tunnel recently, i caught and released them. I will do the count too

I'll have a look at the link later. I'll have more time. I will try to do it though. It sounds a good idea. I haven't seen many this year yet.

I usually do this too but haven't seen any butterflies this week at all, still there's time for it to brighten up enough for them to pop out again, I had seen a few last week before the count started including a small tortoiseshell, gatekeeper, common blue & speckled wood.

It's been a little wet for butterflies down here too, hopefully I'll get one sunny day before the end of the month. Last year I was over run with cabbage white butterflies so this year I left the purple sprouting plants in for them to lay their eggs on, I've seen an odd one this year but no caterpillars
