I spotted this chap this morning waiting for breakfast. It looks very bedraggled. I know it is survival of the fittest and it will only take the week or the slow but the fledglings in our garden don't seem to be at all street wise.  |

I've never seen one in our garden - but there's a suspicious pile of feathers up near the apple tree, which could tell me that one has visited!

Great pic. W.F., I've never managed to get a photo of one in our garden, they're just usually a blur swooping past me! He does look a bit bedraggled doesn't he, maybe worn out from raising some young & going through a moult or maybe it's a youngster who hasn't got the hang of hunting yet? We lose a few little sparrows every so often to sparrowhawks in our garden but I haven't seen one recently, they'll probably be back though as all the little fledglings are sleeping in our conifer again & they make such a noise going in & out that they must attract any passing predators.

That's a great shot WF.
They're not particularly skittish birds, i came across one feasting on a pidgeon, on the pavement infront of my neighbours house and it was not going to move out the way !
