I was supposed to go to the Pembroke show today, but I am unable to go. I have a friend who asked me to come along, but she wants to leave before 10 o'clock - and she won't come from there until the very end - which means I won't get home till about 8 this evening Oh dear ! That's a long day for someone agoraphobic to be away from the house It's worried me all night and I haven't been able to sleep. I've been feeling panicky and now I feel quite sick If she was willing to pick me up at about say 10.45, we'd still get there in plenty of time (it takes about an hour and a half) We'd have a good few hours to see the show, and then leave at about 5. - I'd be home by 6.30 - that wouldn't be so bad, but she still said she'd come by 10 and wait for me, which has made me feel adgitated and quite anxious all night .... So now I feel in a bit of a state, and I can't go...... I'm a bit disappointed because I go with her to it every year. It's always a long day and she insists on going so early and staying all those hours. I usually cope somehow, but this year I don't feel that I can I was going to show you some photos but I won't be able to do that now ..........

That is a pity Hywel. On one hand you would think your friend would be more understanding, but on the other hand, you friend might have thought this was good for you. I must admit I get all 'showed out' after a few hours and feel just the same shopping or anywhere where my concentration is needed. Mmm, you would have spotted some interesting cacti. Get ready, and see if you feel any better by 1045 hrs.

I also get 'showed out' after 4 or 5 hours. They're tiring days because most of us aren't used to walking nonstop for hours on end. What a shame, Hywel, that would have been a lovely day out too.

Agoraphobia can't be easy to live with Hywel. It is a shame you feel you can't go to the show now. I think most folks get 'showed out' after a few hours, I wouldn't be able to walk about all day as many folks do. Maybe give Cherry's idea of getting ready for 10.45 and see how you feel.

I hope you do get there Hywel - surely your friend understands how you feel?

It'll be a real shame if you haven't been able to go Hywel, I can understand how you feel though & once you've started to get worked up it's hard to calm yourself down. Hope you've made it & your friend can cut the hours down a bit for you.

hywel, that show is right on my doorstep and the traffic it creates is horrendous. I get in on a reduced rate for OAP's but not going this year. last year was so muddy they had to pull most of the cars out of the parking field using tractors. TBH I didn't think a lot of the horticultural section last time I went but the poultry show was very good. it does take a lot out of you wandering round but then so does Hampton Court.
