Just a note for those of you with lilies, I haven't been paying much attention to the lilies since they finished flowering but I was out deadheading this morning & sat down in the sun for a rest - didn't sit still long as I noticed a red lily beetle on some dying stems & then when I started to look I found 15 on various ones around the patio! They are all now ex-beetles, squashed in a paper tissue.

I read in GN this week that the lily beetle will still pay attention to plant....even after the flowers are finshed........eek!!   |

They are definitely still around, I've found several while I've been cutting back perennials near lillies (all now squished).

I hadn't really noticed as the stems were dying off but all the leaves are nibbled so the second generation of beetles have obviously been having a good feast while I wasn't looking!

I have had a bad time with lily beetles and noticed that some are beetle free, yet they were almost touching the infected ones.

I've noticed that too Cherry ...some not touched at all and some get very much attacked, I am sure it must be something the breeders will be looking in to, some kind of resistance some plants have? or some just taste sweeter ;D
