Just a quickie to let you know of a scam, I've been getting phone calls from 'Microsoft' informing me of an international virus problem, being of suspicious mind, I phoned Microsoft tech dept. This is definately a scam, I've been informed not to give any information whatsoever to the caller, it's a way of hacking into your account with the obvious end of getting to money. They are usually of the foreign persuasion, difficult to understand, and one I might say was extremely bolshie, so be warned, I hope this helps anyone who might have received any calls lately. It's not something I've had email about, but has happened to me twice this week

I've had those phone calls in the past too, I just say no you don't work for Microsoft/Windows/Apple etc. & there is nothing wrong with my computer so please don't phone here again. They are just 'phishing' & are either trying to hack into your computer to get your details or are trying to get you to switch your computer on & log onto a page which will tell you that you have viruses/problems etc. (you don't) in order to get you to buy an antivirus software programme which they are selling. I think Esther's answer is best, just say 'what computer?' ;D

But oddly, on the first occasion it happened I was having problems with my computer.

Had no phone calls, but I remember once someone called at the door and started asking questions about my computer. I did the same as Esther, and said I had no computer

If I'm in the garden I usually say P*** *** or B****** but if I'm sitting comfortable I give them all the numbers they ask for and act a bit dim, quite easy actually. Once I got OH to say I was suffering from dementia, she talked for ages as did I. It must have cost them a lot in phone bills. The numbers are only pretend ones of cause. I detest any such calls whether from scams or salesmen and they get an extremely rude response. I consider it an invasion of my privacy.
