I took a couple of photos of the spiders in our garden this morning, one from the underside, it looks like it's got 'eyes' on it's belly! Then another one displaying it's pretty patterns. then I found a caterpillar when I was clearing some dead leaves off a heuchera in a pot, I think it's a small tortoiseshell one but I'm not sure, it had hidden away again next time I looked.

Very good pics Sue, I've took pics of the same spiders and appreciate how difficult it is to get it all in focus

Good close-ups there It's wonderful to see spiders' webs. I hate it when I have to break them to go down the garden path this time of year. I keep appologising to the spiders for destroying all their hard work lol ;D

I agree - excellent close-ups. I tried to capture a spider wrapping a cranefly up in a web, but my camera won't go in close enough.

There do seem to lots around this year but there usually are quite a lot in the autumn, the webs do look beautiful with dew/rain/frost on them.

The ones are a bit of a shock when you feel a web on your face when down the garden ;D

To get even better pictures have you thought of using a web-cam ?

Great pics. Esther, there are a lot of big fat spiders about, I like them but I wouldn't fancy that one smacking me in the eye either!
