I've had a couple that have flowered over the summer, mostly they are still dormant

I have a lot of hellebores, but they will just have to get walked on when the apple tree is taken down. I don't think it will hurt them too much as they are dormant. When this happens, later this month, I am being sent away for the day.

I have a double white one which has been in full bloom for about six weeks, otherwise they're all dormant.
Cherry, do you have a choice in where you're going?

Mine has been in flower too, i bought a new wee one a while back, metallic blue or something like that, it's quite happy in it's little spot, hopefully it will survive the winter

My daughter-in-law from Yorkshire won a ticket for her and a child (Kira is only 1 yr though), to visit Church Farm for Rare Animals and a petting farm, toy tractors to ride on, lunch, etc. I have no choice, but it is very nice here, but for a whole day? Stepson will keep his father in order to fell the tree. The tree taking the place of the apple will be Prunus serrula because it has to be bone hardy and the canopy lifted above the garden.

Cherry, I agree - a whole day would be very tiring, I reckon, and it sounds more suited to children anyway. I hope you can prolong your lunch! ;D What a great choice for a replacement!

Thankyou for that Geranium. I nearly threw it open to the forum, but I did not trust all of you to think of extreme hardiness and the cold fen winds. Actually trees don't grow on the fens and that tells you something.

It does indeed. I suppose you get the easterlies there - our prevailing winds come from the west, of course. The current one is a north-westerly, though.
