I already have a Winterfire at the side of the new swing seat (not yet built) I've got another on the other side but it doesn't look like Winterfire. It's small and when I bought it it didn't have a label. The stems look different. I'm thinking of getting another, a bigger one so I'll know it's got red stems.

Well I now have a spare, The one I bought a couple of weeks ago was small and it's stems were not at all red. The one I bought yesterday is bigger and didn't have red stems either, The guy said it had been grown inside to achieve faster growth and that when it's in the ground it will develop red stems. I'm really looking forward to showing you a pic of the 'swing area' it's been an enormous job. The two Cornus play a big part in it as will St. Swithun.

It was nice before but it was the only place I could put the swing seat. I've made the trellis for the sides, I'll put them in tomorrow. I'm waiting on some Stockbord for the roof then it will be finished. The rose (left) is St. Swithun) raised cos the site is boggy, ideal for the Cornus, Ligularia, Astilbie, primula and Purple loosestrife. I expect I'll have to thin out a bit when they get going.

You've done a good job there Merlin It will be a comfy place to sit and watch the birds feeding next summer. I would like to see another photo when the plants are flowering.

Thank you and yes it I'll post a pic when the flowers are in bloom. St Swithun should provide a nice perfume while I'm 'swingin' ......not too much "tipple" though G, I don't want to tipple out of my swing seat! I'm off to the local auction today for some stuff to make the seat swing.
