Posted - 25/10/2008 : 21:01:59 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wash sink thoroughly with detergent to remove dirt and grease. Score heavily with the sharp edge of a screwdriver to give a 'key' to the surface. Make sure surface is thoroughly dry then apply the first coat of universal bonding agent or polyurethane adhesive. Allow this to set for a day then apply a second coat.
While second coat is still tacky, apply a 'hypatufa' mix to sides and top edges making sure it extends 2" or 3" down inside as well.
HYPATUFA MIX 2 parts fine peat 2 parts sand 1 part cement Enough water to bind the mix

I didn't see/read this the first time around - have you got a sink garden then Grindle ? I know Esther has/had one.

My problem with my alpine sink, which is covered with hypertufa, is that I've been trying to get it mossy. I've painted it with yoghurt three or four times, but I suspect that I'm on a loser, because moss grows in shady places, and my trough gets some sun.

Grindle that is really brilliant. It is so nice to see Froglady's name up here.

Geranium wash it it over with muddy water at intervals that will incourage lichen then moss will follow if you have the time.

Grindle that is really brilliant. It is so nice to see Froglady's name up here. It seemed a shame to lose this topic, and nice to remember Margaret at the same time

I think we did mine about 4 years ago. When I was painting it with yoghurt, Henry always came with me and had a good try at licking it off! ;D ;D
