Latest bird to be seen in garden here is pied wagtail. Running around for the seeds the pigeons missed

I've got a lot of blue tits and long tail tits, as well as robins, a blackbird, plenty of starlings, the odd dunnock and wren. My favourites to watch are the LT tits, such pretty little birds.

Perhaps your feeder 'tree' could be moved closer to the camellia which seems to be doing well. I am reluctant to suggest a tree or shrub because this should be your personal taste. Enjoy some time out in the garden centre when you are feeling better. I think Mahonias will be reduced in price at present and they are evergreen shrubs. whisker mentioned cats and so did my husband, who comes from your town. The pond is a real asset for the wildlife and this does not need to be near the feeders. My birds prefer to have the birdbath quite separate and prefer this to the bowl below the feeding station. I think you will succeed with all this advice from our forum members.

Cherry I would like a cherry blossom tree as the flowers are so pretty but I also would like one that has berries on as well for the birds which doesnt grow to big any ideas
I want another clematis against the other fence and with my hanging baskets my garden should look nice this year
as for cats I have seen 2 that roam along the fence
thanks for your advice joyce

They sound lovely joysie21. You could make the cherry a fruiting one and have blossoms and fruit, of which the birds would get some, or something like a fastigiate 'Amanogawa' which is ideal for small gardens. For berries, my favourites are Crataegus (pink or red hawthorn) or Sorbus (Rowan). I think the 'Amanogawa' cherry is ideal for your garden as it has a very tidy habit. Do look them up on Google.

When it was cold & sunny this morning all the birds appeared in the garden, a pair of greenfinches, a pair of goldfinches, a pair of bluetits - getting the impression the birds think it's spring & are making plans! I also got quite excited when I spotted a pair of bullfinches & then another one tried to muscle in on the couple - I very rarely see bullfinches! The happy couple :-

Glad your robin has reappeared joysie21 I bet your other little birds won't be far behind now it's cold. There was a flock of about 10 greenfinches in the big tree on the field behind us today, never seen so many all at once.

Lovely selection, SueA! These days, I have a flock of starlings - the greediest, feistiest birds ever! Some wood pigeons, collared doves, blackbirds, blue tits, black caps, hooded crows, jackdaws, magpies, sparrows, wrens and, of course, robins.

I looked out of the window this afternoon to see a kestrel sitting on the fence. I've not seen one of those in the garden for a long time.

I've never seen a kestrel in the garden at all Andrew , that would really make my day! I did see the female sparrowhhawk again the other day & the bullfinches came back yesterday so I'm hoping they will stay around.
