I haven't seen 'our' robin for a while, hope it's O.K., probably just gone elsewhere to nest. I opened the blinds in the bedroom at the back of the house this morning to see one of the skinny young tabby cats up the oak tree on the end of a branch trying to catch the woodpigeons who are as big as it & who were sitting looking at it as though it was mad! Then one of the longtail tits flew up to the window & tried to pick bugs etc. from the window frame & bricks beside me!

I'm sure our robins have been frightened off or killed by the feral cats the new neighbor brought with her. I got up late last night and here was one of them, sitting on my boundary wall looking in. In the half dark, it was weird. They are left out all night, so what chance have the birds?

I'm noticing the magpies love swooping down on my moss-covered lawn. there must be a lot food for them hidden in the moss.

I'm fed up with those wood pigeons I put food out for all but they have to eat everything - one had eaten so much it's throat was bulging

Did somebody say something about greedy birds? It wasn't me honest - it was the woodpigeon!

I think it might have peony but I have seen them sometimes stuff their beaks & then just fly up into the tree to gobble it all down in peace! We had a full garden today with longtail tits, coal tits, the wren, blackbirds, a couple of sparrows, magpies, collared doves, woodpigeons, great tits & starlings! Took a couple of photos of the coal tit pair & one of the great tits through the windows so they're not very clear.

Was really pleased this morning to see a Song Thrush, haven't seen one of these in my garden for at least 3 years. It was bashing a snail on the patio steps Hope it stays around.

I was out topping up the feeders yesterday morning, and spilt a little seed on the ground. I stepped into the shed to put the bag of seed away, turned round and less than 2 metre's away on the ground were the robin and blackbird helping themselves to the spills. It's lovely to see the small birds feeding on the ground and feeding station, although the wood pigeons and magpies to come and shoo them off here too to help themselves to the offerings on the ground or tray.

We appear to have either a magdaw or a jackpie as this bird with the colouring of a magpie but the appearance and habit of a jackdaw turns up fairly regularly. never seem to have camera handy when you need it. As they are members of the corvid family I wonder if they interbreed. it could of course be just a jackdaw with a lot of white feathers.

I doubt they do interbreed sweetpea but you never know, there are jackdaws with some white feathers called 'leucid', you get blackbirds like that too as well as all white ones too. I've only ever seen one or two blackbirds with a couple of white feathers though.
