I doubt they do interbreed sweetpea but you never know, there are jackdaws with some white feathers called 'leucid', you get blackbirds like that too as well as all white ones too. I've only ever seen one or two blackbirds with a couple of white feathers though. Yes, I have seen quite a few over the years. Its a bit like a flower that sports. Not sure what the cause is though.

Great pics SueA it was me that said about the wood pigeons eating everything. The magpies here is rather adept at negotiating the fat square and ball feeders. I've seen black n white crows years ago but not recently. I've only seen 1 thrush here in two years - they're brilliant slug busters

Heartbreaking yesterday, a magpie was raiding the nests in the conifer tree at the end of next door's garden & all the parent birds were screaming & jumping around on the fence & greenhouse next door, there are blackbirds, coal tits, sparrows & various other little birds nesting in there. I wouldn't wish any ill on the magpies but the poor little birds have spent the last week trying to protect their eggs & young from the atrocious weather - snow, hail, rain, wind & their efforts will come to nothing. They're very resilient though & will just try again & again until they manage to fledge some young. I have seen a young robin pottering around which has reached independence so there is hope!

It is sad when that happens SueA , there was something upsetting the blackbirds here yesterday, I couldn't see any magpies but there was a grey squirrel in one of the trees so that might have set them off. I think the blue tits in one of my boxes have babies now, the parents are in and out the box all day with food.

All our birds screech. There are flocks of black cockatoos and lots of colourful birds, but I miss the birdsong in my Norfolk garden. Treasure your birds.

SueA so sad - I remember a few years back a crow swooped and took a young blackbird off the roof where it was standing with its mother - the sounds were terrible I covered my ears

It is upsetting even though we know it's nature & it keeps it's own balance. I've seen a couple of the sparrows pulling bits off the hanging basket liners on the fence today & flying off with it so they must have found a new spot to nest in already.
