I did trial some of these G in the small size and found they didn't rot down very well at all

I have to agree with Steve - I've bought three plants in them, and firstly, the coir looks ugly, and secondly, it doesn't seem to want to rot down! I avoid them now.

My local GC sells plants in them, I agree with Steve, they don't rot dow very well. It's a good idea though. It's ridiculous that they will not re-cycle along with other plastics. I've never understood why GC's don't take the plant out of it's plastic pot and pop it into a cardboard one for you to take home. How about a flat curved cardboard that clips together. All the GC would need is a thin plastic bag to put it in then into the cardboard one.

Maybe your (good) idea needs to be sent to the industry, Ron!
At least some GCs are now providing bins where you can recycle plstic pots - or take out a size you're short of! ;D
