We've got solar powered light on the fencing and between the paths in the gravel and they're still going strong now and the ones in the gravel go red/blue and yellow and only cost £1-99 from B@M store.

They look like good value gail, how long have they lasted so far? Whenever we've had the type with the solar panel at the top on the outside the panel doesn't last long as they tend to go rusty here, I keep thinking I might try the glass ball type where the panel is enclosed as they might last longer. All we've got are a few of those hanging glass lightbulb type ones with a string of very fine 'fairy' lights in them on the patio at the moment.

Hello Sue, only purchased them this year as I used to have the plastic ones with silver on top but these are still going strong the glass tops easily remove so you can clean them and the main battery part leads from the glass attachment and goes down in to the stem hole and what we did was cut rubber fingers off ruby gloves and put them over that part to stop any rain water getting to the battery plus the battery is easy to change it just unscrews at the bottom.

They do look better than the ones with the panel on the top & good tip about the rubber glove fingers.

They are Sue and the solar is inside the glass and once you screw them back the rubber seal secures them and the rubber glove idea came from hubby mate just to make them secure from water, incase water rose in the tube at any time.
